Tensas is one of the 64 parishes of the state of Louisiana. It was formed in 1843 from part of Concordia parish. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,252, making it the least populated of Louisiana's parishes. The parish seat is St. Joseph. The parish encompasses 641 square miles.
