Flag of Westchester County
Westchester is one of the 62 counties in the state of New York. It was created in 1683, making it one of the 12 original counties in the state. As of the 2010 census, the population was 949,113, up from 923,459 in 2000. The county seat is White Plains, and the largest city is Yonkers. The county has 500 square miles (1,295 km2) of area, of which 433 square miles (1,121 km2) is land.
