Wilcox

Wilcox is one of the 159 counties in the state of Georgia. It was created in 1857 from parts of DoolyIrwin, and Pulaski counties. As of the 2010 census, the population was 9,255, up from 8,577 in 2000, but well below the high of 15,511 in 1920. The county seat and largest city is Abbeville.

The county has 383.3 square miles (993 km2) of area, of which 380.30 sq mi (985 km2) is land. It is bordered by Pulaski County to the north, Dodge and Telfair counties to the east, Ben Hill County to the south, Turner County to the southwest, Crisp County to the west and Dooly County to the northwest.
